THE VEGETABLE GARDEN 2020

 VEGETABLES FROM THE GARDEN 2020

Here are some of the things that we have grown and picked this year, as usual lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, melons and basil and this year we have already picked lots of runner beans.  Also, in the freezer are broad beans.

Lots of tomatoes, cucumbers and melons already picked from the greenhouse.

Some of them are frozen and some I've also made runner bean chutney with.

Baby tomatoes are very useful, apart from adding to salads, I've cooked them in the oven to make 'sun-dried' tomatoes and they keep well in oil in the fridge or use for various recipes.

Courgettes are really slow this year for us, the slugs seemed to have also loved them and having grown my plants from seeds (6) I am down to two in the garden now having already picked one and with three about to be ready!

Runner beans

Here we have butternut squash plants with already quite a few squashes, purple sprouting, and one pumpkin (blue) looking a bit dry because of the heat!

Also growing in the greenhouse are peppers (hoping they will turn red), jalapeno and cayenne chilli

Basil - of course!

And the tomatoes.....

Outside, we have some lovely figs this year, first year of having them as they usually fall off when they are small

Our plum tree is loaded with fruit this year, now just need to find some recipes!

Not many apples at all this year

In this bed, parsley, rocket, spring onions, lettuce, beetroot and coriander which has gone to seed, so a good trim back is needed of this.
